पलाशपुष्पसंकाशं तारकाग्रहमस्तकम् । रौद्रं रौद्रात्मकं घोरं तं केतुं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥

Ketu sprang from the same wound that made Rahu but took on a different, more shadowed form: the severed, tail-end remnant, an animal-like, spectral torso blurred between beast and ash. Cast out after the churning, he drifted into the nether margins: scorched riverbanks, ruined shrines, and ash-strewn cremation grounds where ordinary life dissolves.
Ketu is often depicted as a serpent-bodied figure (sometimes human torso with serpent tail). This ties him to naga/serpent symbolism and chthonic, hidden powers in myth.
